Sauchie started off at a fair pace and they controlled most of the first forty five minutes. Thistle's keeper Andy Carlin was in fine form and his heroics saved Thistle from gong behind at the interval.

 

 

TThe second half started much the same as the first half with Carin having to make some tlling sttops and then Bathgate seemed to step up a gear and were rewarded in the sixty fourth minute when Brain McPhee turned his marker and strode towards goals before slipping the ball past the helpless keeper Stewhouse. Thistle almost lost their lead in the following minute but their defence anaged to clear the danger. Sauchi again were unlucy not to equalise when first MacAdam left Wiilson for dead but his shot was well over the bar and then minutes later Young's header was tipped on to the bar by the Thistle keeper an then finallyy ceared y  Menmuir. Four minutes from time Iain Nicolson curved a free kick from twenty five yards intto te to corner o the Sauchie net to give the visitors a two goal lead.
