This was a match Bathgate had to win if they wanted to challenge Camelon for the section lead when
the two teams meet at Camelon on Monday and the home side started out playing possession football. All their efforts
paid off in the sixth minute when Graeme McLaren rose high above the Armadale defence to head home from ten yards. Bathgate
controlled most of the play and they were rewarded again on the half hour mark when McGrillen, who appeared to be in an offside
position, latched on to Gary Fallon's through ball which he squared to Brian McPhee and he had the easiest of jobs in slotting
the ball past the helpless Wood. A minute later McLaren added his second when he blasted McGrillen's lay off into the Armadale
net. Five minutes later Paul McGrillen got in on the scoring act when he knocked McLaren's pass out of the reach of the Armadale
keeper for Bathgate's fourth goal.
Half time: Bathgate Thistle 4 - Armadale Thistle 0.
Any hopes of a similar comeback to the Kenny Carruther's cup game were soon to be diselled as Bathgate continued
to dominate in all areas of the field. Brian McPhee added a second half hat trick to take his tally for the afternoon to four
when he scored in the fiftieth, eightieth and eighty third minutes to give the home side a very comfortable victory.
Manager Hill said" I was delighted with the afternoon's work and now look forward to the
rescheduled match at Camelon on monday evening when the section winner will be decided".
