A first half loaded with all sorts of drama including two goals for the visitors, a red card for each side and a number of cautions. Camelon opened the scoring in the eleventh minute when a free kick was floated into the Bathgate penalty area and Batchelor outjumped his marker, his header found McKenna unmarked and the striker had the easiest of jobs to knock the ball past Carlin in the Thistle goals. In the twenty fifth minute Camelon were reduced to ten men when Donnelly was shown a straight red for an off the ball incident. Despite being a man short most of the pressure was being appled by Camelon and it only took them five minutes to double their lead. A moment of madness saw Gary Fallon attempt to send a throw in back to the thistle keeper but the ever alert McKenna nipped in and slotted the ball past Carlin to put the visitors two up. Three minutes from the break disaster struck Fallon again as he was shown a straight red by Referee Reid for a clumsy tackle reducing both teams to ten men.

Half time: Bathgate Thistle 0 - Camelon 2.

If the Bathgate support hoped that the intervaal talk from the management team would rejuvenate their plyers they were to be sadly disappointed. Camelon were sharper to every ball and the Thistle players were finding it difficult to string passes together and never proved a threat to Hutchison in the Camelon goals. Thistle keeper Carlin was by far the busier keeper and had it not been for him making some fine saves the score could have been much higher. Camelon were rewarded for all their efforts with a goal four minutes from time. Bathgate defenders failed several times to clear their line and substitute Mitchell pushed the ball home from close range to finish off a good afternoon for the visitors. Manager Hill said "It was a very disappointing display with too many players shirking their responsibilities but it will be sorted out".

Final score: Bathgate Thistle 0 - Camelon 3.
